1. Each Sunday there is a Three Round Tourney scheduled to begin at 1:15 PM
using time controls of Game in 45 with 5 second increment in three Sections:
Section 1 - Open, Section 2 - U1900 and Section 3 - U1600. The STC BUNCH
reserves the right to adjust the sections according to the number of available
players. Each participant must be a Registered ICC member and either be a
Registered STC member or agree to become one in the near future. Prizes are
only awarded to bona fide members of the STC BUNCH. This is our tournament,
and newly interested ones are happily invited to play and join our club.
2. Enter "+ch 90" to hear Tourney announcements. Use "Observe <player>" to
watch matches. Use "History <player>" to see match results.
3. The STC-TD account is the active account for the tourney manager. To join
the tournament send one message to stc-td:
message stc-td join <section>
where <section> can either be Open, U1900 or U1600. Registration for the
Sunday Swiss for the STC-Bunch ends at 1:15 PM. The TD will NOT be able to
answer "Tells" due to the volume of Tourney duties.
4. Members of ICC and STC who have the variable noescape=1 should be advised
that due to the inconsistencies of the Internet, management of ICC and The STC
BUNCH recommends setting noescape=0 for the duration of this tournament.
5. Every entrant must accept the following: "This STC-Bunch Tourney is being
administered by a FLAWED HUMAN VOLUNTEER. Blunders will be made due to
processing a high volume of data in a limited time frame. The TD will NOT
have time to discuss or rectify these blunders or any other matters due to the
tight time requirements of Tourney administration. Your participation today
implies acceptance of these conditions."
6. Corrections to the tournament record as posted on the web site may be
requested via email of thewiz (thewiz@stcbunch.com) so long as they are
received within 48 hours of the close of the last round of the tournament in
question with a copy of the game in question in pgn format. Any requests
received after 48 hours will only be considered at the discretion of the TD.
No Exceptions.
7. If a player disconnects or does not start within 10 minutes of the Official
Start Time, the opponent can claim a forfeit win. The opponent must use the
"Log <player>" and "Date" commands to establish the ten minutes. If neither
player claims a forfeit or starts in 15 minutes, both will be forfeited at the
TD's DISCRETION. This is the 10/15 Forfeit Rule.
8. Forfeits under the 10/15 Rule are necessary to allow completion in 5-6 hrs.
Each player is EXPECTED to accept ALL decisions imposed by the TD gracefully
without complaint, even if made in error."
9. Forfeits are imposed WITHOUT DISCUSSION. Those who respond ABUSIVELY will
be added to the TD's Censor list and excluded from this TD's Tourneys for 3
weeks. A second occurrence after the 3-week ban is rescinded will cause a
PERMANENT ban. Abuse includes, but is not limited to, complaints to the
public (Channel 90), complaints to ICC Administrators (Channel 1) and repeated
Tells to the TD. The only acceptable form of complaint is a SINGLE message to
the TD. The TD's decision on the complaint must be accepted as FINAL.
10. The Special Rule disregarding colors and emphasizing score will be applied
for the Final Round only, for all Sections.
11. Grand Prix Points will be awarded each week and used to select monthly
winners. Open-2 months ICC extension. Only Registered ICC AND STC
members are eligible for prizes. These grand prix lists will be made public at
the STC BUNCH website at the TD's discretion. http://www.stcbunch.org/gp.html
Grand Prix Points will only be awarded to active sections on a week to week
basis. If a section is NOT played during a given week, the regular points
distrubition will not be given to the unplayed sections, with the following
addendums.
. If eight players or more play in the tourney, U1900 players top two
scores will get 12 and 9 points respectively. Any points awarded in
the bonus recipients actually played sections are null and will not
appear in the normal distribution.
. If fourteen players or more play in the tourney, U1600 top two get
12 and 9 points respectively. Any points awarded in the bonus
recipients actually played sections are null and will not appear in
the normal distribution.
. If eighteen or more players play, it is the responsibility of the TD
to balance the sections. Please accept your up or down float without
comment or discussion.
12. All players are subject to the Balancing Rule. The monthly U1900, U1600
winners are disqualified from winning those Sections for 1 month and the
monthly Open winner is disqualified from all Sections for 2 months.
13. If a player forfeits any round, a second message specifically requesting
re-entry is required to continue in the following round. Messages explaining
a problem or asking questions will not be answered and do NOT count as a
request for re-entry. Otherwise, the player will be dropped from future
rounds that day.
14. If you are a Provisional Standard Player (less than 20 games played) or
are matched against a Provisional player and encounter a block under the
ICC Rating Range Limit Rule, please MESSAGE the Tournament Director (STC-TD)
immediately to enable your match. Note: All STC BUNCH tournament games
must be played rated, and provisional players are under the same obligations
in this regard.
15. Round 2 Late Joiners will be awarded a 1/2 Point Bonus to compensate them
for missing Round 1. Requests for Byes in other Rounds will result in the
granting of ZERO point Byes, only.
16. All players are expected to avoid using any outside assistance in playing
in our Rated STC Sunday Tourneys. However, due to the difficulty of detecting
the use of computers and other outside assistance by humans with presently
available technology, STC will NOT make any attempt to Review games where this
rule is suspected of being violated at the present time. However, if any
player is classified as a computer by ICC, STC will exclude that player from
rated Sunday Tourneys.
18. Granting Moretime or Takebacks in a Tourney match will result in a forfeit
for the GRANTOR at the TD's discretion. This is to prevent Tourney Rounds
from being extended by courtesy grants.
19. Player infractions are dealt with under the "yellow card", "red card"
system. At the TD's discretion, a yellow or red card will be imposed on a
player who misbehaves. A yellow card is the equivalent of a 2 month
"probationary" period; the player can still play, but can't repeat the
offending behavior for 2 months. A red card amounts to a 2 month "ban"
which means that the player is barred from participation in the tourney for a
2 month period. For example: a "silent withdrawal" (swd) will almost certainly
earn a red card. A swd, leaving without telling the TD, deprives the next
opponent of a game, as the TD will pair you as normal. An entry into this, or
any tourney, signifies a COMMITMENT to play ALL rounds. Therefore, most
withdrawals (wd's) are frowned upon, except for very good reason. Of course,
any red card can be appealed to the STC-TD account; the TD will take in all
relevant information, and render a decision on the appeal. Repeating a yellow
card offense within the 2 month period earns a red card.
20. Each player is REQUIRED to allow the Tournament Director extra time to
start his own match so he can arbitrate initial disputes.
21. These rules are subject to change as online conditions warrant.
