Here are some statistics from recent FIDE rating lists.  We've
counted the number of titled players and the number of players
in each 100-point rating range.  The numbers do not include
players listed as inactive on the FIDE rating list.

Note some fluctuations in the number of titled players,
because FIDE excludes countries when they have not paid
their dues.  A country may be on one list, and not the next.
Only active players are included.

Starting April 2004: The Woman Grandmaster totals do not
include women with the IM or GM title.  The Woman
International totals do not include women with the IM title.
