ICC Help: CC-Rating

Correspondence games that are part of certain tournaments are rated
on ICC. See help correspondence and help CC-Events for details
as to which events are rated and for information on how to join those
tournaments. Only those tournament games are rated -- users cannot elect
to start a rated correspondence game on their own.

The correspondence rating that you will have on the ICC is completely
unofficial in all other email and postal correspondence organizations
and should be considered as such.

From July 2002 until April 2005, correspondence ratings were maintained
by Beats20Cents and other volunteers. They are now automatically
updated by the ICC server. The ratings on ICC are not identical to
the hand-maintained ratings, in part because the starting points are
different.

"best correspondence" lists the top players by correspondence rating
(among those who have active and established ratings) and
"rank correspondence" shows where you stand. Twenty rated games
are needed to establish a correspondence rating, and two games per
year are needed to keep it active (i.e. eligible for the "best" list).
