Rules :: Learning how to capture opponent's pieces
A piece can capture another, by moving to the square of the captured pieces, here are some diagrams that show how captures work:

   

The Bishop moves to the square of the pawn and takes it.




In this position, if its white's move he can take black's pawn. But if it is black's move he can take white's pawn. (as indicated by the double arrow).
