Let’s get ready!

Let's get ready for April, which will be a tremendous month for chess!
At the beginning of the month, the strongest ever U.S. Championship will take place at the swift Chess Club and Scholastic Center of St. Louis, Missouri. The elegant and famous chess club will host an amazing line-up of participants this year: the defending champion Gata Kamsky, World Number 3 Hikaru Nakamura, Wesley So - who recently switched federation - Ray Robson, Alex Onischuk, Daniel Naroditsky, Sam Shankland, ICC's commentators Varuzhan Akobian and Timur Gareev, Kaiden Troff, Conrad Holt and Sam Sevian.

But this is not all! April the 16th starts one of the strongest events of the year: the 2nd Gashimov Memorial.
To commemorate the late Azeri GM Vugar Gashimov, the elite of chess will gather in Shamkir, to play the 10-player round robin tournament: Magnus Carlsen, Fabiano Caruana, Veselin Topalov, Viswanathan Anand, Anish Giri, Wesley So, Vladimir Kramnik, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Teimour Radjabov.  ICC will have LIVE coverage with commentary, Game Of the Day videos and TRIVIA.

March has been signed by The European Individual Chess Championship, an amazing tournament that was held in Jerusalem, Israel. The 37-year-old Russian GM Evgeny Najer clinched the trophy, with a spectacular 8.5/11. David Navara (CZE) shared second with Khismatulllin (RUS) and Bartel (POL). Navara, despite not being able to win the tournament starting as the favorite, played some really interesting games; our GMs Joel Benjamin and Larry Christiansen used David's games in their weekly shows.

Today starts the traditional Reykjavik Open - this is the 30th edition - with a bunch of strong GMs; top seed is the Azeri GM Mamedyarov, then the marathon-man David Navara, Pavel Eljanov, Gawain Jones, Sergei Movsesian and Jon Ludvig  Hammer to name a few. ICC will relay the games live.
