Kasparov beats Genius!

In the 2-game match played on May 20, Kasparov avenged his loss last
year to Mephisto Genius, by winning 1.5-0.5. The games can be seen
with "examine GMKasp 1" and "examine GMKasp 2".

In game 1, the computer went pawn grubbing. Move 22 ...Qxa2 (as
Kasparov pointed out later) was a serious mistake. Quickly
capitalizing on this, Kasparov created a structure in which none of
Genius's pieces were free to move. After receiving a few futile
checks from Genius's queen, Kasparov slowly advanced his pawns into
the Gordian Knot he had tied around Genius, and it was all over.

The second game was a draw.

After the victory, Kasparov said "We are just learning how to play
against computers.....I expect to see many more human-computer matches
in the next few years."

About 180 people watched the match. Of course ICC will have live
coverage of many more important human-computer matches.
