The Ireland group is one of the most recently formed groups on the Internet Chess Club (ICC), having been established in October 2005.

Like other country groups on the ICC, the Ireland group is a group for those living in Ireland.

Membership of the group is open to any of the following:

(i) Anyone living in Ireland

(ii) Members of the Irish Chess Union

(iii) IRL FIDE listed players

(iv) Irish citizens

Purpose of the Ireland group:

* Discussion forum for Irish chess players on the ICC -- join channel 368!

* Will provide information on chess tournaments taking place in Ireland.

* Irish players can check their "g-best" listing - ranking of their blitz rating among Irish players on the ICC.

* Participate in any future ICC country-teams tournaments

* ICC tournaments restricted to members of the Ireland group will be run, so it will be possible to run an ICC Irish players tournament, league, or even championship!
