BlitzIn Release Notes
Changes in the 3.0.4 Build (since 3.0.3)
- Added support for the DGT chess boards via the DGTDLL.DLL provided with the board. It supports both the older serial and newer USB boards and the DGT XL clock.
- Added support tool to track down connection issues. (Help / Network Status)
- Added configuration option to show/hide the country flags.
- Updated all language translations of the above new features.
Changes in the 3.0.3 Build (since 3.0.2)
- Display country flags for the players on the score sheet.
- Fixed searching (Ctrl-F) on text panes.
- Fixed removal of moves while navigating backwards on games uploaded to an examined board.
- BlitzIn is bundled with Stockfish 2.1.1. You need to select the new engine executable from the UCI engine configuration dialog if you want to take advantage of the new version. The new executable is next to the previously installed one.
- Updated all language translations, except for Portuguese.
Known issues:
- The Stockfish engine that is included is the 32-bit version. If you want a different version of Stockfish, then please download it from its official site, install it, then select the executable most appropriate for your machine in the UCI engine configuration dialog.
- The book file of Stockfish is not included, since that would make BlitzIn's installer considerably larger.
Changes in the 3.0.2 Build (since 3.0.1)
- Fixed the installer to detect running BlitzIn instances and show the usual retry dialog as it did before the 3.0 release.
- Fixed the upgrade process to download the new installer into a user writable folder on Vista and Windows 7. This will fix upgrading FROM 3.0.2, not upgrading TO 3.0.2.
- Fixed broken parsing of promotion moves sent by the analysis engine.
- Added tooltips for all the buttons added in BlitzIn 3.00.
- Added "Configure" button to the analysis output pane to make it more accessible. Also, changed the text displayed when no analysis engine is configured to explain how to configure an UCI engine.
- Any running analysis is stopped if the user closes the UCI engine configuration dialog by choosing the "OK" button. Analysis has to be started manually after that. It ensures that the analysis will restart with the newly applied engine and configuration as expected.
- Pressing the ENTER key in the UCI engine configuration dialog does not cancel it any more.
Known issues:
- The Stockfish engine that is included is:
- Version 1.9.1 rather than the most recent version for Windows, which is 2.0.1
- 32-bit rather than 64-bit
If you want a different version of Stockfish, then please download it from its official site, install it, then select the executable most appropriate for your machine in the UCI engine configuration dialog.
- The book file of Stockfish is not included, since that would make BlitzIn's installer considerably larger.
Changes in the 3.0.1 Build (since 3.0)
-
Bundled the 32-bit Stockfish 1.9.1 chess engine with BlitzIn and made it auto-configuring. It also works for users with non-standard installation location.
-
BlitzIn now issues an "examine" command automatically when the user is opening a fresh chess board while not examining, playing or observing any other game. (Whenever examining a new game is possible.)
-
BlitzIn is now saving the game window position, size and the splitter position correctly.
-
Fixed problem with non-English Windows versions and non-standard My Document folder locations where BlitzIn migrated the user's configuration and save game files to a wrong location.
Changes in the 3.0 Build (since 2.8.1)
- Chess Engine Analysis
- Supports UCI-compatible engines
- Analysis appears in a tab at the bottom of the game window, as an alternative to the game console. (Disabling the game console will also hide the analysis pane.)

- To configure an engine, select "Configure UCI Engine..." from the "Options" menu.

- Don't have an engine? No worries. You can download Stockfish, a free chess engine.
- Added toolbar and a drop-down menu with the most common examine mode operations.

- Moved the location of all the configuration and save game files from BlitzIn's Program Files folder to the user's own Application Data and My Documents folder for improved Operating System conformance.
- Fixed bug when the seek graph remained off-screen after changing to a lower screen resolution.
- The login dialog is not cleared any more when a wrong password is entered, only the password field is cleared.
Upgrade Notes:
Please read if you are upgrading from a BlitzIn 2.X version
Existing configuration and save game files are migrated (copied) from the program directory of your previous BlitzIn 2.X version. Note that manually copying the files is not enough, since the configuration files contain path names which need to be changed to point to the new location. The migration process also works if you installed the previous BlitzIn 2.X version to a non-standard location, like your My Documents folder as long as the BlitzIn 3.0's program folder is next to the previous one and you don't change the default name of the program folder (BlitzIn 2.X).
