Today is the birthday of Grandmaster Igor-Alexandre Nataf, born in Paris, France, on May 2, 1978. He grew up in the Caissa Club of Chantal Chaudé de Silans (a historical opponent of Clarice Benini) and was mentored by GMs Murey, Renet, and Pavlovic. Second only to Peter Leko in the European Championships of 1992 in Italy, he is known for participating in various festivals, winning an edition of Montecatini Terme. In 1999, his victory against John Nunn earned him the award for the best game of Informant No. 76. He also boasts successes against Kortschnoi, Short, Morozevich, Ehlvest, and Lautier. Nataf reached his peak rating in April 2007 with 2596 Elo points. He retired from competitive play and has managed his YouTube channel for a few years now.
